I Can't House My Parent And My Kids

By Debbie Marie

If you're a senior looking for a great place to settle down, you should consider senior living in Colorado Springs. This town has a lot to offer for retirees. We'll discuss a few of the reasons we rank in the top 10 for great places to retire and also tell you about some of our senior living options.

Do you know where the song America the Beautiful was written? That's right, on a trip to the Colorado Springs area. Why? Because it's beautiful. We have nearly 250 days per year where you can see a blue sky. And, it's not just any blue. It's the darkest blue you've ever seen in a sky! Additionally, Pike's Peak looms large over the entire city giving you breathtaking views from almost anywhere. And, from the city, you can be in the mountains within minutes.

If you have a hankering for a big city, Denver is only a short drive away. But, you might be surprised to learn that Colorado Springs has all the things you want from a bigger city. It has all the arts, entertainment, shopping and recreation you could ask for, but with the charm of a smaller town.

Although we have four full seasons, our winters are regarded as mild by most standards. We get our share of snow, but it rarely stays around for more than a few days. It's usually followed by another stretch of blue skies and temperatures that will melt it all away. This mild weather allows for outdoor activities all year long.

We also have all the standard options for senior retirement facilities. We have a great assortment of independent living communities, assisted living facilities, and of course nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities.

If you're still active and mobile and not in need of assistance, you may be in the market for an independent living facility. The centers are ideal for the senior that is on the go and really only desires this for the community and camaraderie.

Assisted living facilities are for those seniors that require a step up in their care. They offer some of the same amenities as do independent living facilities, but also have round the clock caregivers to help with the needs of their residences. These facilities are for those that need assistance with their activities of daily living. Although these facilities don't provide medical care, they can help you coordinate your medical needs.

If what you need is more comprehensive, round-the-clock care, you may need a skilled nursing facility. Whether you need rehab or some medical assistance that would require a registered nurse, this would be your best option. These are secure facilities that provide 24/7 medical care.

Colorado Springs is a great place to retire. And, if your in the market for an assisted living center, I'd like to suggest Constant Care of Colorado springs. It's a great facility with a wonderful staff and similar folks ready to add to their family.
