Will The Antichrist Be A Muslim? A Christian Perspective

By Annabelle Holman

Ever since ancient times the Antichrist is always been of European Decent. There have been entitlements that developed in regard to the foretold the false messiah being of Islamic Origin. Opinions and different points of views have been raised across different religious based groups regarding the impending approach of the Antichrist. The question that many ask is, Will the Antichrist Be a Muslim? We look at these discussions brought forth across both platforms, the Islamic and Christian Antichrist.

The Shiite who are found in regions of Iraq, who are an Islamic community have always believed that after the death of prophet Muhammad, there were twelve prophets who came forth. The prophets are also referred to Imams from a Muslim perspective. The prophet, who was born around 868, was Imam Muhammad Al Mahdi who was number twelve among the twelve prophets. He entered into a cave while 12 years of age, due to the persecution. During the end times the prophet will emerge from the cave.

A group of Christian scholars argue the anticipated Anti-christ will hail from the Islamic community. The claims are based on the book of Micah, where he foretells the invasion of Israel by the Assyrians. Micah refers to The Assyrians as the Antichrist. The scholars further indicate that he is portrayed as a leopard that has a mouth like that of lion and the feet like those of a bear in the book of revelation. Prophet Daniel describes the Medo-Persian empire to be leopard like.

Further discussions indicate that prophet Daniel foretells about a ram defeated by a goat, in his prophecy concerning empires. The goat was characteristic with a horn that was placed in between the eyes which denoted the Medo-Persian Empire. Scholars across the board are in agreement the horn referred to the Antiochus Epiphanes that was in power from the Alexander Empire. In Prophet Daniel foresights he states that the autocrat is the Antichrist.

With all this arguments brought forth, there is a section that argues that he will not be from the Islamic community. In book of Daniel, he prophesies that Antichrist will forge a peace agreement with the nation of Israel for a period of seven years. Daniel foretells that the fake messiah will rebuild the temple. The fake messiah can not be Muslim due to the hostility that has always existed among Christian and Muslims.

Another argument that disagrees that the fake messiah will not be a Muslim is based on Geographical location. The bible claims that the false messiah will emerge from the revived Roman Empire, which is likely to be among the nations of previous Roman Empire. The Roman Empire consisted of parts of Europe and parts of North Africa, yet its Europeans who have always led the Roman Empire rather than Muslims.

Further evidence further points out the Assyrian which is referred in the bible dos not necessarily pay reference to Antichrist. This evidence is emphasized in the book of Micah, where the Assyrian referred to in the book was the enemy of Israel, and God had offered to protect Israel from all enemies.

The people of Assyrian are largely Christians reducing the association of the fake messiah being a Muslim. Vast populations of Assyrians are located in Syria, turkey and Iraq. In spite of most of these populations living in Islamic nations most are Christians. This is among the reason that reduces the arguments of the Antichrist emerging from Muslims.
