Unique Save The Dates Ideas

By Carolyn Wilson

After making a decision on your wedding day, what is left is to send invitation to guests. Bear in mind that people are busy which means that you will be competing with other invitations. As such, you should have unique save the dates items that will make your invitation memorable. Such items also make the invitation personal which builds anticipation for the big day.

Choose a uniquely shaped card. Shapes have a way of creating a lasting impression in the mind. Keep away from ordinary rectangular shapes and create a distinct card for your day. Make it easier to pin or place at a conspicuous place by including a hook, base or hanging thread. Make it as distinct as possible such that it stands out among other invitation cards.

Add a caricature on the card. Find an artist who can draw a closely resembling caricature of the bride and groom. Ensure that the drawing portrays them in celebratory mood. Such an image will be memorable. Use colors that rhyme with your theme. Even when drawing, do not stuff the page with unnecessary images. It might make your invitation to appear like a joke.

A photograph poster also works perfectly. Identify a vintage look like black and white with images that match your desired style for the day. Use classic images of a bride and groom on their joyous day. Such a style is distinct from the mundane style of plain words and clip arts. The photo should be well embossed on the card to form part of the ensemble and be meaningful.

Use a detachable sticker on your card. It is common for people in offices to use stickers as reminders. They are pasted on desks, boards, computer screens, etc. When producing your card, provide a sticker that the person can pluck and stick at a conspicuous place to always remember the day. The sticker should include details like date and venue of the big celebrations.

There is magic in art. Cards are common and are usually discarded after the wedding or easily forgotten before. However, artistic objects like embossed cups, bracelets, flags, sculptures, etc will remain in the memory of invited guests. It is impossible for a person to discard a flag or cup even after the wedding is over. Such objects remain with your guests and will come in handy when you are having your anniversary.

Do you have friends who speak and understand different languages? Consider a card or cards written in multiple languages. This is a perfect idea when your friends come from different nationalities and speak multiple languages. It is easier to accommodate them by printing a multilingual card. The card also feels personal since everyone can read. When the message is printed on a single card, it will be cost effective.

What of an audio or video? Technology has allowed people to make digital invitations. Maybe you have no addresses of most of your friends. It is also time consuming to drop cards from door to door. Consider inviting friends by attaching an audio or video to their social media handles. It gives them an opportunity to replay the invitation over and over. Some may also use it as a ringing tone on their phones.
