The Male Perspective On Divorce

By Stella Gay

Unlike what most of the media would tell the people, it is not always the fault of the man when a marriage does not work out. Of course when divorce becomes an issue in this case, then the men will always be at a disadvantage because most of the laws regarding these cases are actually biased. According to the general male perspective on divorce, it can be seen that men are definitely the ones that will lose out.

Now to begin, it is common knowledge that when it comes to who will take care of the children, the court would most likely favor the mother. The reason for this is simply because the mother is the one that is in direct contact with the children and is assumed to know how to take care of them. This usually applies even though the mother is at fault for the divorce.

If that is not enough, men would have to deal with the children thinking that their daddies are the bad guys. This can simply be from the fact that in general, the mothers would be the ones that would spend most of the time with the children while the father is working. This in turn would make the children think that their mommies can do no wrong.

Another thing that happens during this case is that a man might risk losing most of his assets if his wife would file for a divorce. The problem here is that when a couple get married, the wife would have access to the assets of the husband which means that in court, she may fight for it. Sometimes the wife is able to claim some of those assets during the court case.

Now one very common issue with regard to the assets would of course be the house and the car. In most situations, the man is the one that pays for the house and the car. However, even if this is the case, the ex wife may actually snag ownership of their house or their family car for herself.

Now another thing about this type of situation is that the men would have to support their ex wives through alimony. Now even if the wife has already moved on, married another man, and had children with that other man, the ex husband must still pay alimony. This is definitely a big obstacle if he is to have his own financial stability.

Now fortunately, not all states are very extreme when it comes to the laws regarding alimony. There are some states that would first require a proper court procedure before the ex wife can claim anything from the ex husband. However, there are also some states that are more biased toward women and would favor the woman over the man.

Now by taking a look at all of these instances, it can clearly be seen that the laws would definitely favor the women in this type of situation. However, there are actually a lot of men who are trying to fight for their rights against some of these laws. Luckily some states or countries have already amended some of the laws.
