The Movement To Have The HOPCC Exposed

By Gwen Lowe

The Christian faith consists of numerous congregations, sects, splinter movements and churches that all believe that they are the ones following the true faith. It is sad to see that churches often attack each other, even in public. In recent history several sects have become the target of severe criticism and history have shown that in some cases such criticism were valid. Currently, many people are doing their utmost to see the HOPCC exposed.

Critics against the House of Prayer Christian Church are serious about the matter. They employ modern media such as Twitter and Facebook to publish their feelings and opinions and there are many websites dedicated to exposing the House of Prayer as a dangerous sect that is out to enrich the officials of the church at the cost of the members.

One of the main themes of the criticisms levelled against the church is that it forces its members to donate all their possessions to the church, thereby leaving them utterly dependent upon the church. There are even some that say that certain members are required to quit their regular jobs. Once the members are totally dependent upon the church, they are easy to manipulate, or so the critics allege.

There are also serious criticisms regarding the recruitment practices of the House of Prayer. Some witnesses state that their children became members only to be indoctrinated and alienated from their family and loved ones. Young members are allegedly forbidden to have any contact with their parents, especially if the parents do not approve membership of the church. Parents also say that their children show disturbing behaviour once they become members.

Critics have not limited their efforts against the House Of Prayer to the publishing of reports and allegations. Several attempts have been made to convince the authorities to launch a full scale investigation into all aspects of the church. Those efforts were fruitless thus far because the authorities maintain that there is no evidence that any laws are being broken by the church or by its officials.

The official website of the church states clearly that everybody connected to their seminary are required to reject all affairs related to the secular world. Instead, they are required to direct all their efforts into spiritual growth, learning and the furthering of the church goals. Critics say that this statement clearly show that those members are not allowed to own anything.

The church itself does not seem to react to the criticisms levelled against it. They have published a number of extremely positive testimonials on their website but, once again, critics ridicule these testimonies, saying that members are indoctrinated and cowed into providing their testimonies. The church itself maintains that they simply wish their members to pray and to attend as many services as is possible.

There are those defending the House Of Prayer Christian Church, even some that are not members. They say that the severity of the attacks against the church smack of bias. Indeed, many of the published criticisms against the church use provocative language and in some cases allegations are made without any supporting facts. It is also said that the main critics are only those that are disgruntled with the church because they failed to achieve the goals prescribed by the faith.
