Deciding On Jewish And Christian Wedding Rabbi

By Helen Reed

It is seen that more and more the need for this type of person is required when one of the bridal couple is Jewish. Using a Jewish and Christian wedding Rabbi is the answer when this is the case, especially should one want this to be the flavour of the wedding itself. This is a growing requirement as congregations intermingle and where one of the couple finds their life mate.

Today people wanting this can get it done and have a chuppah to commemorate the occasion. A chuppah is the canopy that the bride and groom stand under and is held up high by four men, each at one pole. These men are usually made up by close friends and family who are given the honour on this special day.

The need for a different flavour at a wedding of this nature is required especially in taking into consideration that many of the guests will be of this faith and way of life. It is with this in mind that a Beth Din, a court of law, is consulted as to what may be done and what may not be at a celebration of this nature. If food is going to be served then one will want to ensure that it is Kosher.

Apart from this, if one is not intending to convert before marriage, there is plenty more to consider and to prepare for this momentous day. Taking into consideration that there will be guests who are Jewish, one must cater for their needs as well. This means catering kosher and having kosher foodstuffs brought in and catered for.

This person will have to be paid for work done so this should be budgeted for accordingly. This person is Shomrei Shabbos meaning that they keep the Sabbath and its laws so accordingly, the wedding date is important as to not fall on this day in the calendar.

The Beth Din is the court of law that enforces anything having to do with Jewish practices. They oversee kashrut laws and ensure that they are with in keeping to laws laid down in the Bible. A mashgiach will ensure that these laws are abided by when serving food and these people are themselves Shomrei Shabbos and abide by all Jewish Law.

Shomrei Shabbos literally means guarding the Sabbath and to keep to its prerequisites. A mashgiach will follow these laws and is an able person to ensure that all that is eaten is in line with kashrut laws. Having one on site is a must as proceedings within the kitchen must be adhered by.

All in all, it is a great way to have this function and a unique one at that which people will talk about forever. List all that is needed to know and work towards the day with glowing satisfaction. It is a momentous day and if prepared properly, will be enjoyed by all those who will be attending it be they non Jews or Jewish people themselves.
