But due to the complexity of your relationship, this can become quite hard and affect both your child and you. Acceptance will make a big difference. It will help you to move on and to think of better ways of managing the split. But, if you are in denial, you are most likely going to frustrate your partner all the time. Therefore, it is important that you accept the situation for what it is and try to find ways to remedy the situation and make things better for you and the children.

One of the things that you might not have thought of is that it can be quite boring for you when the kids are with the other parent. You need to check out everyone's routine and come up with a schedule that will suit all of you. This way, everyone will be happy with the arrangements that have been made. Therefore, sit don both of you and discuss your routines.

Your situations in life will keep on changing. This will require that your schedules also change and that you keep revisiting your initial plans. Avoid being too rigid and be flexible enough to change, as the needs of any of the parents change or if the needs of the child changes.

It is important that rules are consistent in both households. This way, the child can have structure in their life. But if rules apply in one household but they do not apply in another house, then this can be confusing to the child. In addition, it can lead to resentment against one person, especially the parent who implements the rules. Therefore, discuss what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

Things do not always have to be fun and exciting when you are with the child. There is no need for you to try and outshine the other parent by trying to go overboard to please the kids. You can just hang out with the children and do normal things.
